I have officially moved!

This blog has been embarrassingly neglected! Wowzers. I'm not planning on posting here anytime soon, however my new site is right here:

JHPhotography is, of course, my photography blog. I do write thoughts on it occasionally but definitely more than I do here!

So scootch yourself over, hit the reset button, and settle in, cozy up.

Talking to Myself

I haven't posted a "real" post in a long while. But nobody cares except for me, because I only have one reader. :P Hi, reader! (You know who you are.)

So, let's see. There's a lot of stuff that's going on, but I haven't written about any of it because each one would make such a short post. I shall list:
  • The most pressing issue (not really an "issue" per say, but I think the phrase "pressing issue" sounds pretty cool), is that we are going to Pennsylvania this next week. I'm totally stoked! We're gonna stop at St. Augustine, which, for any uneducated folk, is the OLDEST city in the United States. We're also going to stop in Baltimore to see the Baltimore Inner Harbor. Sounds pretty sweet. We leave on Saturday, the 26th.
  • I'm learning the song "Only Hope" by Switchfoot on the piano. It's really beautiful.
  • I'm basically roasting. Florida summer? Yep, yep. 90 degrees, every day!
  • This past weekend, I went to a wedding to help a photographer with odds and ends. Carrying around giant flash units, lenses, bags, etc...... That's all I expected anyway. When I got to the hotel where the wedding was, Mrs. Hannah (the photographer) said that I could shoot! I was rather joyful, to say the least. I got to use a really nice Canon with a 70mm-200mm zoom lens. I had a blast. :) Pictures coming as soon as I get them... Not here but on my photography blog. http://www.jhphotograph.blogspot.com. Go there. :)
  • It's hurricane season! There's already a tropical wave in the Caribbean which has some chance of developing..... It might seem strange, but I'd like a hurricane. We haven't had one in a looooong time. Hurricanes are always fun.

So that's basically it. (Oh, little factoid for ya... My dad said that the most pointless word that adds absolutely nothing to a sentence is "basically." I'm going to use that word as much as I possibly can now.)

There you go!

LOVE

I can't get enough of this video.

Besides the cat being incredibly adorable, another plus is that the people have British accents.

WIN.

American Idol Season Nine

I realized that I haven't written anything about this season of American Idol. Probably because it's a pretty boring season. Yep, that's it.

My favorite, Lilly Scott, was voted off a looong time ago. I think she was at least in the top 15, but was voted off before the top 12. My other two favorites, Siobhan Magnus and Lacey Brown were both incredible, but they also got voted off promptly, basically warning me that it was gonna turn out a pretty bad season after all.

I write this just after the season finale, in which, disappointingly enough, my fave (Lee Dewyze) didn't do so well. I voted for him like what, ten times? (I say that as if it's a lot, but understanding that I don't even vote that often makes things a tad clearer.)

Anyway, I'm really super duper hoping that Lee will win. I actually do think he will... I didn't at least until I read this article. Yes, it seems extremely unfair for Crystal Bowersox who is EXTREMELY talented. Yes, it actually kinda sorta... well, ok... definitely is.

So yes, I am highly (I say highly because it's the season finale, and I'm supposed to because of that... I wouldn't say it otherwise) anticipating tomorrow's show which will announce the winner.

Go, Lee!

Edward Cullen Compared to Christ

I just found this on the website www.susiemagazine.com.

It compares Edward Cullen from the book series Twilight with Jesus... Very cool, very cool.

"Relationship with a guy like Edward:
• Offers excitement for the moment
• Seems intriguing/ mysterious
• Offers protection / a sense of security for the moment
• Offers a love that sweeps you off your feet

Relationship with Christ, your true Immortal Hero:
• Christ provides never-ending adventure and life-giving purpose (Lamentations 3:22–23)
• Christ is a mystery—eternal treasures are hidden in Him (Colossians 2:2–3)
• Provides unending security, certainty and strength (2 Corinthians 12:10)
• Provides unconditional, unfailing love that endures forever (Psalm 136)

Nothing else compares. "

Any thoughts? I think this is right on.

More from Palm Beach Photo Shoot

So I honestly thought I was done editing and publishing the pictures to their various websites. I did think that. But when I went through them all again on iPhoto, I found some good ones that needed to be edited to their full potential. :D

So here they are.

Can't decide which one is better between these two. I'm thinking the one on the bottom, but I'll need some more opinions.

What a sweetie- this little bird was hanging out with his pals near me and my dad sitting at Starbucks.

Palm Beach Photo Shoot

Yesterday, I went out with my dad to Palm Beach to take a couple pictures.... Let me tell you, it was REALLY fun. :D Super windy too, so I didn't get many shots of the beach, but other than that, it was great. Here's what I came up with.

Gah! So Maybe I Take That Back About Wanting a Cold Climate...

I think three days of it is enough. Pshaw, no, it's Florida, it's not snowing or anything... It's just freezing. :P

I'm probably overreacting. Wait - I'm SURE I'm overreacting. It's been in the low fifties, mid forties off and on all day. Last night, the low was thirty five. Tonight, it's going to be in the high twenties for some folks a tad north of us. I know that this "cold" is no biggie for all of you northerners... But that's who you are. Northerners!

I recently said that I'm moving north as soon as I possibly can (which would be in about.... let's just say a loooong time). Now, I'm thinking I'm gonna take that back. :D It's too darn cold here! Florida, the land of sunshine, beaches, palm trees in 70-80 degree weather.... Normally nice. Everything is the same now, except the 70-80 degree weather.
No, that has changed dramatically. :(

Happy New Year!

Yes, I'm writing this at 7:50 pm on New Year's Eve. No, I'm not at a party, but I'm okay with that for once. :D Yes, I am excited about it being 2010 (already?) already. No, actually, I'm not staying up 'till midnight tonight. Last year, I would've thought that outrageous, but not this year. I'm already kinda sleepy.

On another note, I honestly can't believe that it's 2010. It seems a tad cliché, but it's totally true. Time appears to go a whole lot faster as I get older. Maybe it's because I'm having fun. You know the other cliché: "Time goes fast when you're having fun." Yet another that I can really relate to. It might seem to speed up for the rest of my life, or go faster when I get older, but then slow waaaaaay down when I get to old to move. :D I'm sincerely hoping that that situation will never happen! :)

But anyway, Happy New Year's to all! Have a great 2010!

(By the way, is it going to be pronounced "twenty-ten," or "two thousand ten?")

Cleaning My Room (a.k.a. the Chore that Doesn't Go Away

Warning: some might think that this post is going to be boring. You know what? It just might be.

Lately, I've been cleaning my room, vacuuming my room, cleaning it again, then messing it up, cleaning it, messing it up, vacuuming, messing it up, cleaning it, etc. etc. I've just been thinking about it a lot so this is what I'll write about. :D

It seems like most of my time is spent either doing school or cleaning my room when a friend isn't over. I don't know.... this MUST be my imagination.

To put it simply, I have too. much. stinkin'. stuff. Gah! I can't seem to get rid of it, but I want to! I always think Hey, this could come in handy some day.... I'd better save it. or You know, I want to use this more often. I'm not going to throw it away today. Of course, the outcome always is I keep it somewhere in my closet without looking at it until the next time I scour my bedroom.

I know about this fault (or else I wouldn't be able to write about it), but I just can't seem to overcome it. I wish, I sincerely wish, that I could overcome it, but it appears to be permanent. I sure hope it's not.

I don't think I'm exactly a pack-rat. Not quite yet. I hope I'll never be. But all this stuff just kills me, especially since I'm stuck in a small bedroom for the time being. I love open space, which kinda stinks because of what I just mentioned: limited space.

I'm lazy ( :D ), so I need storage that'd be convenient... the likes of which is very hard to come by, unless it's a gigantic dresser, and, as aforementioned, I have absolutely no room for that class of furniture.

Any ideas?
