Hurricane Ike = Threat?

This past week, I have been hearing a lot about hurricanes. I guess you could call it annoying, but when one actually comes, and you have been informed about it so many times that you think your head is going to explode, you will be grateful that the weather people gave you enough time to put the shutters up. That is my take on it- you can add yours if you want, as always....
Anyway, this hurricane named Ike is coming (whenever I hear that name, I think about Super Smash Bros. Brawl... whatever. I am getting off track...), and I don't know what direction it is going! (If only the weather people would talk about it even more....) I have heard two things, that suggest that it is going in two different directions at once.
I heard that the governor of Florida, Charlie Crist, has declared that we are in a "state of emergency," but I didn't catch if it is just the Keys that are like that, or South Florida, where I live. Hmmmmm......
Also, I heard that it was going up into the gulf, ready to hit Louisiana with another strong blow. Why do they always get two hurricanes- right after the other? It doesn't make much sense to me.
But don't ask the weather people. They will start talking "all scientific- like" about it, and start repeating it over, and over, and over, and over, and........

Recipie #2 (Still More to Come)

Egg-in-the-Hole Breakfast

You need:

1 large brown egg
salt and pepper
1 slice of good toasting bread
butter or tea oil (butter tastes better)
a skillet
and a glass with a mouth that would fit on top of the bread

You need to:

Start melting the butter on the skillet. Cut a hole out of the bread by using the glass like a cookie cutter. Put both circle of bread and holey bread onto the skillet. Crack your egg into the hole of the larger piece of bread. It will probably seep through, but that doesn't matter. That just spreads around the eggy goodness. Season the egg-in-the-hole along with the bread round, with salt and pepper. Fry until bottom of egg is white, then flip. Season both breads again. Lift up the egg-in-the-hole and put more butter to melting underneath it. This prevents it from sticking to the pan really bad. I have had to do this maybe up to 3 times before my tasty treat was done. When you think your egg-in-the-hole is done, slash the yolk to find out. If the yolk runs, it is not ready.

Bon Appetite!!!

Makes: 1 egg-in-the-hole
Serving: 1 egg-in-the-hole

An Update on My Vacation

Ok, so here is what's going on. In my last post, I told y'all that I am in Tennesee on vacation with my family. So, here is an update.

Today, I went out to eat with my cousins. We had a great time. We did that yesterday for lunch and dinner too. I am getting sick of eating out.

My cousins have left. I am pretty bummed about that. Right before they left, the boys were playing some army game on an Xbox 360. I hate it when I am trying to be peaceful, and I hear continuous shooting. Very annoying, very annoying.

I really slept in today. I woke up at around 9:00 am, which would be about 10:00 at home. Some people might think, "Oh, that isn't 'sleeping in', that's nothin'." For me though, that is a huge amount of sleep. I even missed the hotel breakfast, too! I usually wake up at six.

I woke up with a headache this morning. I hope I'm not coming down with something. It is really dry in Tennesee, so my nose is really stuffy and my lips are chapped. Not complaining, or anything. :)

Our flight is leaving tommorow morning (Wednesday). I never like airplane security. Of course I don't want to be blown up by some random bomb, but I still don't have to like it!

My Most Recent Vacation

I am on vacation right now in Tennesse. It is really cool. I am on my dad's laptop in our hotel. Our hotel is really nice with a exersize room, free ice, and things like that. Oh! And they serve breakfast here! Hey hey hey!

My family has a really nice suite paid for by my dad's company. I have my own little bedroom-thingy! I sleep on a couch, though. Whatever.

The reason why we are on vacation, is that Dad's company wants us to check out Tennesee. So we came, and are having a good time.

My cousins are coming down to meet us here, at our hotel. I am a-thinkin' that they should be here by now. They live in Illinois so my dad decided to invite them to come and check into this hotel. I think they are going to have a room accross from ours which should be really fun.

I have started practicing my rubber-band-shooting. The hallway is a really nice place to do this in. I've never really tried to focus on shooting a rubber band. It is pretty fun, believe it or not!

We are going to stay in Tennesee until sometime Wednesday. Boo. I wish we could stay longer, but our days aren't very full already. Also, my family has two dogs who are back at home. They get lonely easily.

I hope I can post updates on my vacation by posting on this blog. C U L8R! Heeheeheeheehee! :)

My IMAX Experience

Today, I went to an IMAX show called U2 3D, and it was pretty cool. Actually, what I mean by that is it was AWESOME!!!!
U2 3D is an IMAX, as I have already said, and it is in 3D, as you might have guessed. The film is of a couple performances by U2, with them all edited together. So one song you might be watching them in Argentina, the other in Peru.
I think it was really cool because my dad said afterwards that most of the people at the concerts in South America didn't even speak English, but they knew the lyrics by heart! That really impresses me.
The movie is something definentely worth checking out, if you haven't seen it yet. If you aren't a big U2 fan yet, you will be, at least, in love with their music after you watch it.
My brother said that Adam Clayton, (with the 3D affects) the bassist hit him with his guitar several times!!!

Dance Dance Revolution

Have you ever heard of Dance Dance Revolution?
It is a video game that you use a mat instead of a controller with. To play, one must watch the tv screen which would have arrows showing you what arrows on the mat to step on. All the while music is playing and the steps are to the beat. It takes practice to get the moves right, but it is really fun once you get groovin'!
I love watching people who don't have much practice trying to do it. It is so funny to watch!!!!!
My brother was kind enough to get me the game and the mat for Christmas. I have had it for a little more than a year, now. I love it, and since I have aced almost all the songs on the disk, I think I might get a different disk with different songs that I can master on it. Wahoo!!!!!!!
Just wondering, are good "Revolutioners" really as rare as I think? Please comment and tell me if you are very good at DDR and if you know anybody who is.
Wheeeeeeeee!!!!!!!!! (I just had to be random for once! )
:)

Horsies!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I just want to put up these pictures for no reason. My friend gave these pictures to me so I want everybody to see them.

Yeah.

I have no idea of what to say, so I'll just say that these are horses of my favorite breed. Arabians. People say that this breed is the most beautiful, and I agree most strongly.

If you would like, you may comment with your favorite horse breed, and I will burst your happy little bubble with an explanation of how my breed rocks your breed.

Ha.

Baby Wombat Pictures

These pictures are, obviously, pictures of baby wombats. Aren't they so cute?

I was studying Marsupials in science today and saw the cutest picture of a wombat in my book. That inspired my dad and I to look for "baby wombats" in Google Images, and we found these too-cute-for-words pictures.

One of my new favorite animals?

The wombat. :)

My Magazines are Better Than Yours

I am an incredibly "horsey" person. The kind of person who loves "that amazing, horsey smell" and loves cleaning a stall.
I recieve two horse magazines every month. One is called Horse Illustrated and the other is Horse and Rider. They are both excellent magazines, they are both my favorites.
One evening, my brother was having some guys over to play a board game called Diplomacy. It involves secrecy and socialization at the same time, so one would find lots of people around the house, whispering to each other.
I was gathering up my horse magazines, and as I stepped onto the stairs, I found two guys right in front of me. They saw the title of my magazine and laughed. "Horse Illustrated?" One of them inquired (they were both very kind about it). What could I say other than the "yes" that I did? Who knows?
Maybe Sports Illustrated wasn't published before my horse magazine, maybe it was published after? I doubt it. Gosh, can a magazine have a name with "Illustrated" at the end without having people laugh? Guess not! :)

My Science Book is Pretty Wierd

My science curriculum is called Lyrical Life Science. It's Biology or something. But, to bring meaning to the "lyrical" part of it, the author takes a normal tune that you might hear like "Oh! Susannah!"or"Yankee Doodle" and puts different lyrics to it, kind of like Weird Al. Here are the words to one of the songs put to the tune of "Shortnin' Bread:"
DNA is what they say, made you what you are today
Like a program it will tell, what will happen in each cell
DNA is a molecule, look real close, it's really cool
Like a ladder in a double helix, so simple yet so complex.
(Chorus)
De-oxy-ribo nucleic acids talkin' 'bout genes and chromosomes
De-oxy-ribo nucleic acids talkin' 'bout genes and chromosomes
:) (:
In chromosomes made of DNA, there is a particular way
Nitrogen bases can be seen, in special orders to make a gene
When organisms reproduce, different genes are on the loose
Dominant and/or recessive, the offspring gets traits the parents give.
(Chorus)
Genetics is the study of heredity, it may use probability
To predict just how likely, results of genetic crosses will be.
(Chorus)
Genetic engineers can use, parts of different molecules
Changing DNA around, to solve a problem they have found.
(Chorus)

Nigel The Three-Legged Lop-Eared Beagle

So, I got a new dog. He was from the Animal
Aid Shelter, which was very small and so full of
poor animals waiting to be adopted! He's a cute
three-legged Beagle mix that will do anything
just to get pet.
My family was thinking of names for him, when I had to walk Arwen and the new guy. When I came back, my dad announced that his name was now Nigel Tufnel, Nigel for short.
I didn't really like this name but whatever, it was a name and he looked like a Nigel. Our other choices of names were Zipper, Smily, Chip, Crash, Trippy, and Tripod.
He's happy with his new home, especially after being a stray in a car accident and recent surgery. He has occasional "night frights" in which he starts yelping in the dark because of ghost pains on his stump. But those are getting rare and we now have better sleep. Nigel plays with his new pal, Arwen quite well, and I've even seen Arwen lick Nige's face! So he's getting along great and still adores being pet and getting "lovin's."

My Vacation

I had an awesome vacation in Illinois where most of my family lives. We spent one week there. It was totally not enough time to spend with all my friends and family.

When I was at one set of Grandparents' house, my cousins, and my brother played about four games of croquet per day. I think I only played one game. Maybe two.

My cousin (pictured) makes many versions of popular games. He renames them Extreme____. He made some version of Croquet called- you guessed it- Extreme Croquet. It involved hitting the ball across a small road. Wow.

A Dog With A Cute Coat Pattern!

My heart goes out to this Chihuahua! When my dad showed it to me for the first time... I cannot describe how I felt.

This, ladies and gentlemen, is the cutest dog with the most amazing 'do that I have ever seen. I am positive. Don't try to tell me that your dog is cuter, my dog is definitely less cute than this, although she is most adorable.

I forgot this dog's name so I'll try to post it in the comments soon. You can probably tell that I don't even know if it's a male or a female. All I know about it is that it's cute and a Chihuahua with a hard name to remember. And an awesome coat pattern.

P.S. This "three dog series" is going to be called the "Three Cool Dog Series." Whoopee!

A Baby Pygmy Hippopotamus

This is, by far, the cutest, most adorable, picture of a baby Pygmy Hippopotamus. The little tyke is only 7 weeks old! For some reason, to me, that makes him cuter.

The tiny hippo's head and ears also look a little like my dog's! Of course, not always. But when my dog is in the sleepy fox kind of mood, her ears look like the hippo's! Totally cute. :)

Oh, by the way, this hippo baby is the size of a human baby! That is small for a hippo, believe me. I don't know how tall the mom is though.

I have two (2) reasons of why I put up this post. (1). My blog is called the Happy Hippo. And (2). This picture is unbelievably cute! Just makes you want to snuggle with him! Or, if you aren't in his area, (I have no clue to where in the world he is) snuggle with people around you!

I Know It's Super Late, But I Am Still Celebrating In My Mind About This!

So I watched the Super Bowl this year (early this year, I know, I know) and I was just randomly rooting for the colts because I like the name and uniforms better than the Bears' uniforms.

I was at a Super Bowl party with some friends and we were bored so we decided to make cheers for the teams that we were rooting for. Luckily, we were split up evenly. It was really fun to practice and show each other what we came up with.

Whenever the Colts scored a touchdown, me and my friend neighed like horses as loud as we could! The girls rooting for the Bears roared when their team scored.

I had a blast. I am so glad that the Colts won! It is the first time that I have ever rooted for a team in a major competition that won.

The preceding year, I had been rooting for the Seahawks over the Steelers and they didn't win. I had some neighbors that put up a big banner on their balcony that said, "STEELERS!!!" That made me feel good. :) Tryin' to rub it in. Well, at least this year the Colts won!!!

Summer!!!!!!!

Love summer! It's just the fact that it's hot outside that makes me wish that it was spring or winter. But more awesome fun happens in summer so that makes it perfectly OK with me.

I'm doing some traveling and going to a fun camp as said earlier in another post called HORSE CAMP!!!!!! I bet anyone could tell what I'm doing this summer with that title. :)

I go to some free summer movies for kids too! Most are relatively old movies like Dreamer, Jimmy Neutron, Madagascar, Happy Feet, etc, etc, etc.

Of course I swim also.Summer is nothing if you don't swim at least 10 times. I love swimming games like Jail Break and Marco Polo.

I also play a game called "The Ticket Game" with my dad and brother. It is so fun! The ticket person, who is mostly my dad because I can't throw anybody (you might be thinking, "Throwing is involved? Oh my! But it is the most important part of the Ticket Game.) chooses secretly a day for the movie,( Sunday Sturday, etc. etc.etc.) time of day for the movie, (not like 6:01 or anything- just like 6:00) a theatre number (numbers up to ten) a row number(up to ten again) and a seat number(up to ten!).

The people who are not the ticket people try to get in to the movie by guessing the numbers. If they are not right on even the first one they get thrown into the deep end of the pool. Then they get to try again.

When a person gets the numbers all right, and doesn't get thrown, then they get to see the Secret Bunny Show! My dad does that with me, you don't have to do that movie if you play! It's just a really funny game. :) Love summer!!!!!!!
